Prayer for Peace and Justice in Ukraine

God of peace and justice,

who change the hardened heart and break the power of violence,

we entrust the people of Ukraine to you.

Protect them in this time of peril;

let them know not death but life, not slavery but freedom.

You are Father to all; we are brothers and sisters.

Give us the strength to live that truth in love, choosing peace not war.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Giving to the Parish

We are very grateful for your continuing support of our Parish.

The parish will always accept cash but for those who are not happy handling it in the current pandemic we have multiple ways you can continue to support the parish.

If you would like to give to the parish but are unable to get to church you can still give by depositing directly into the parish accounts. If you have an envelope number please put it into the reference field when giving to the parish if you would like a receipt. If it is for the priests (first collection) you do not have to put anything in the reference field.

Tap and Go

Because of Covid-19 and the decrease in using cash, the parish has purchased a Tap and Go machine for the collection of monies for the first and second collections. It is in the body of the church between the sacristy and the side door and accepts Mastercard and Visa along with debit cards. For every dollar, 30 cents goes to the parish presbytery account and 70 cents goes to our parish.

Qkr! App

The parish is signed up with secure Qkr! by Mastercard App, as a way to make payments to the parish. It’s an app that you can download for your phone, from the App store or Google Play, and use to make payments for collections before during and after Mass, even when you are away. Every payment you make is recorded within your app wallet for easy reference at a later date and your Mastercard or Visa Card details are stored with the security of Masterpass (not on your phone) for ready access when making payment. This app can also be used to make payments for the various special collections throughout the year, Project Compassion, The Priest's Retirement Foundation Father's Day Appeal, Mission Sunday and The Archbishop's Christmas Appeal as well as sacramental payments baptisms, First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation (Confirmations every 2nd year) . There are leaflets about Qkr! available in the foyer of the church.

We also have periodic bank debit and Credit card debits that can be set up for you - just talk to the parish office.

Report from the Parish Finance Committee

I am reporting on behalf of the PFC about the Parish Finances.

Firstly, we want to thank everyone and acknowledge all the contributions, not just financial, that people make to this Parish. This is a generous community and people give in all sorts of ways, even simply belonging to this Parish is a contribution. Thank you for your support as without all of it we wouldn’t exist as a Parish.

The update on the budget is that it is balanced and has been submitted to the Archdiocese. We do need to talk about income though because giving is down. The last two years have been difficult for everyone and for the income of the Parish and church attendance hasn’t bounced back from lockdowns. We are asking that parishioners reconsider or renew their giving pledges.

We know this is hard as everyone has bills to pay. However, we can also now say that the Presbytery donation drive has almost hit its target amount. Many people have given generously to this cause. We are asking that if you have switched your donations, please switch them back to the standard giving to the Parish. This is income for keeping the lights on in the church and presbyters, wages, insurance, cars, all amenities and maintenance. These are basic running costs of the physical presence of the Parish. Without an income we can’t pay for these expenses.

Your financial offerings enable our parish continue to serve the people of Narrabundah and support the priests and Fr Rembert Thomas.

The easiest way for planned giving is a direct debit or automatic credit card withdrawal as this allows you to maintain a consistent donation and can be easier for the church to manage the budget. For this payment option (Direct Debit or Credit Card), please contact the parish office or pick up a census form in the church and fill in the details for tour giving. Once you have completed the form please email them to the Parish Office or put them on the plate at Mass and we will be in touch.

 Other electronic options are:

  • Qkr! online or via the App on smartphones
  • “Tap and Go” machine

If you are an envelope planned giver, please contact Cathy in the office to tell her you wish to continue to give in this way as even the envelopes cost us money to print and provide. Please remember to put your envelope/giving number in the reference and your first and last name.

We thank everyone for their ongoing contribution and look forward to the Presbytry repairs but also to the continuing functioning of the Parish.

 Other details:

All details are on the website however if you have any questions please contact the office at or or call the office 6295 7879 and leave a message if the phone is unattended.

If you would like to make an online donation to support our Clergy, the parish office can supply the account details for either the clergy (Account Name: Narrabundah Presbytery Account 1st Collection) BSB: 062-786 Account No.: 000020619) or the Parish (Account Name: Narrabundah Parish 2nd Collection) BSB: 062 786 Account No.: 000014992).

In line with the ACT Government easing COVID-19 restrictions, there are no longer density limits in the church, the CBR app is no longer required upon entry, and face mask are no longer mandatory but are highly recommended indoors. If you are unwell it is still best to stay home, for those with immunity issues.
