Just over one hundred and fifty years ago, the priest assigned to the south east of NSW, Fr Slattery, wrote in his diaries about his visits to the Bega Valley. In his pastoral works he would celebrate Mass, baptise children, preside over weddings and funerals in farm houses and properties in the small township. The Catholic community in the township of Bega eventually grew large enough to build a place of worship in the town of Bega. Over time, other churches were also built in neighbouring villages. These church communities have now joined together due to the shortage of priests to form our current parish area in the Bega Valley.

 We welcome all those who live in the valley and those passing through to be a part of our faith community in one of our four churches.
